They needed a 30 ton overhead crane capable of continuous heavy-duty cycles, with precision positioning for sensitive machinery manufacturing plant lifting tasks. The foundation of this workshop overhead crane is its double girder box beam structure, fabricated from Q345B structural steel with full-penetration welds inspected by ultrasonic testing. The box section geometry offers superior torsional rigidity compared to I-beam alternatives — critical for minimizing deflection under the 30-ton rated load across the 22-meter span. End trucks are machined to H7/k6 tolerances and fitted with hardened wheel treads graded to match the client's existing runway rail specification (QU70).
The hoisting unit is built to FEM standard for M6 (A5/A6 equivalent) duty, with a drum dimensioned for at least 2 rope layers at maximum altura de elevação of 12 meters. The entire hoist drive uses a closed-loop variable frequency drive (VFD) system from a Tier-1 supplier, enabling 0.1–100% speed control and eliminating mechanical shock during load pick-up — a significant contributor to lifting efficiency improvement in the client's assembly workflow. Load limiters are set at 110% of rated capacity.
A Siemens S7-1200 PLC handles all motion logic, interlocks, and fault logging. Operators use an ergonomic pendant control with illuminated pushbuttons and emergency stop, supplemented by an optional radio remote for hands-free operation. All fault codes are logged to a removable SD card, simplifying maintenance-friendly crane system support without specialist equipment on-site.
