1000 Ton Goliath Gantry Crane for Offshore Wind Power

Project Overview

The offshore wind power research and test base is located in Jiangyin Harbor, Fuqing City, Fujian Province, which is an important part of China's “14th Five-Year Plan”, and plays a pivotal role in the country's renewable energy strategy. Last month, Weihua Group successfully delivered and commissioned a 1,000-ton double girder goliath gantry crane, which recently completed its heavy-duty testing and was officially put into operation.

Project Challenges

• The crane needed to handle a maximum lifting capacity of up to 1000 tons for a large offshore wind turbine assembly, the world's largest offshore wind turbine unit and longest wind blade.
• Due to space constraints and varying load conditions, the installation site required highly adaptable and relevant machinery and equipment.
• Lifting operations are controlled to an accuracy of ±1 millimeter to ensure safe handling of delicate oversized equipment.
• Advanced monitoring and safety, real-time operational feedback, and safety alarms were required.
